The Atlantic View Trail

At just over 10 kilometres in length, the Atlantic View Trail is a moderate to difficult hike that is suitable for experienced hikers. It can take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to complete, depending on your pace and the number of breaks you take to enjoy the scenery.

The trail begins at a small parking area near the village of Duncan's Cove, just a short drive from the city of Halifax. From here, you'll follow a series of well-marked trails that lead you through a dense forest of coniferous and deciduous trees. As you make your way through the forest, you'll encounter a number of streams and creeks that flow down from the surrounding hills.

After about an hour of hiking, you'll emerge from the forest and into an open meadow. Here, you'll get your first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged coastline that stretches out before you. The trail continues along the edge of the cliff, offering stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape.

As you continue on the trail, you'll pass by a number of small coves and inlets that are home to a variety of sea birds and marine life. Along the way, you'll also have the opportunity to stop and rest at a number of overlooks, where you can sit and take in the breathtaking views.

One of the highlights of the Atlantic View Trail is the section known as the "Narrows," which is a series of rocky cliffs that rise up from the ocean. Here, the trail becomes more challenging as you make your way over rocky terrain and through dense forests.

After several more hours of hiking, you'll finally reach the end of the trail at a small beach called Duncan's Cove Beach. This secluded spot is a great place to rest and relax before making your way back to the trailhead.

Overall, the Atlantic View Trail is a must-do for any outdoor enthusiast visiting Nova Scotia. It offers a unique combination of scenic beauty and challenging terrain and is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the province. Whether you're an experienced hiker or a beginner looking for a new adventure, the Atlantic View Trail is sure to delight and inspire you.
